The HistoryCorps program is looking for students who:
- Are interested in applying critical thinking and skills learned in the classroom to the real world
- Would like to contribute to the work and mission of one of our community partners
- Clearly articulate why they would like a HistoryCorps internship- linking this opportunity to career or learning goals
- Clearly articulate what skills, qualities and competencies they will bring to an internship
- Have a high degree of professionalism and will represent the UCLA History Department in the community
- Can commit to 8-10 hours of work per week, are willing to travel to an internship site, and will enroll in History 195. Internships take time, and HistoryCorps should be given the space that you would normally give to a 4 credit course.
Once you are accepted to the program, you will create a resume and cover letter to send to your internship site. Here are some resources to help you:
- See the UCLA Career Guide: Chapter 6 on cover letters and resumes
- Visit the UCLA Career Center Website, where you will find lots of guidance and resources
- Make an appointment with our History Department Career Counselor for some career advising and to have your materials reviewed
