SUMMARY:Inquiry with Objects and Photographs The History Project at Dominguez Hills
DESCRIPTION:Inquiry with Objects and Photographs\nThe History Project at Dominguez Hills in collaboration with the Autry National Center of the American West presents a Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Workshop (Levels I/II)\n\nLearn to design engaging inquiry-based lessons using primary sources\, with an emphasis on objects and photographs\, for the K-2 classroom.\nAutry Museum Educator Rebekah Harding and expert teacher leaders from the History Project will demonstrate K-2 lessons and activities designed to develop knowledge and skills in history-social science as well as language and literacy aligned to the new CCSS/ELD standards.\nThe Library of Congress houses a treasure trove of primary source materials to engage young learners in historical inquiry and historical thinking.  This four-day workshop for  K-2 teachers will guide participants through the process of finding and utilizing these unique resources.\nWorkshop is provided at no cost to the participating teachers. A $200 stipend is provided to teachers for writing and implementing a lesson.\n\nEligibility: \n\nParticipants must be available to attend the four-day workshop and the follow-up day on Saturday\, October 3\, 2015.\nParticipants are required to design and implement an inquiry lesson.\nPriority will be given to K-2 teachers who have not participated in a Teaching with Primary Sources Level II Workshop in the past.\n\n\nNote: Day 1 will be held at the Autry National Center of the American West\n\nFor more information: https://csmp.ucop.edu/home/display_program_details/960094
